Modern Family Residence
East Legon, Accra
A four-bedroom contemporary home designed for comfort and entertaining, with open-plan living, deep shaded terraces and natural cross-ventilation.
The challenge
The family wanted a striking contemporary home that would stay cool without running air conditioning all day, on a plot with a fixed street frontage.
Our solution
We oriented the main glazing away from the harsh western sun, added deep cantilevered overhangs and placed openings on opposite walls for cross-breezes. Warm LED lighting and stone accents give the façade presence at night.
Outcomes
- Open-plan ground floor flowing onto a covered terrace
- Passive cooling strategy reduces reliance on air conditioning
- Photorealistic 3D design approved before construction began
